The New Age of Music

Today's music industry has changed drastically due to technology and the way people listen to and buy music. The new generation has embraced the age of streaming and online radio and the music industry has noticed. Young new artists now have a chance to succeed on their own connecting to the world and fans with their music on platforms like Soundcloud, Spotify, and YouTube without a label's help. Becoming independent has never been so easy. There are many tools to help promote new music and brands. In the time where streams mean everything the artists have the upper hand.

Music Never Dies. The new age of music. Woman on stage bowing before an audience. The generations before artists and bands never had this luxury. To be noticed and seen on a nationwide scale you needed a label to promote your music and your brand. This is the era where album and record sales meant everything for up-and-coming artists. If your albums didn't sell your chance of being a priority to the label fell as well as your promotion, making it harder to get recognition. The labels were in control and getting big portions of artist's money and having more say in what the artist could do or not do, making it difficult to have musical freedom and personal interests and advice for their own music.

Having the freedom to be who you want to be in the music industry today is the best part about the new generation. Having the platforms and social media applications on their side, artists can promote themselves for who they are and what they believe in as well as their music, not depending on a label to do so how they want. The new approach for an artist is to be a public figure and creating a brand people can connect with and see as well as listen to and stream their music.
